The AATCC Rapid Abrasion Tester can quickly test the dry and wet abrasion resistance of flexible materials such as textiles, paper, leather and plastics.

The sample to be tested is tumbling rapidly at a constant speed in a cylindrical testing chamber lined with suitable friction materials, and the tumbling action is produced by a slurry impeller.

AATCC Rapid Abrasion Tester 【Test principle】:

A free textile sample is driven in a zigzag path along a circular track by the impeller rotor, so it is continuously subjected to rapid impact from the friction pads and the walls of the test cylinder.

During the test, the specimen is subjected to bending, friction, impact, compression, tension and other forces.

Then, the wear of the sample is produced by the mutual friction between the yarn and the yarn, the fiber and the fiber, and the sample surface and the friction pad.

The abrasion resistance of the samples was then evaluated by the weight loss before and after rubbing or the loss of breaking strength (break at the fold line) measured by the grab method.
