    Heat treatment process of SKT4 tool steel

    In order to maximize the performance of SKT4 tool steel in die casting molds, the following heat treatment processes are usually carried out: Preheat treatment:

    Temperature: 750-800°C

    Purpose: Stress relief and improved dimensional stability.

    Quenching:

    Temperature: 1000-1050°C, oil cooling or air cooling.

    Result: Obtain high hardness matrix and improve wear resistance.

    Tempering:

    Temperature: 550-650°C, tempering 2-3 times to optimize toughness and thermal fatigue resistance.

    Target hardness: HRC 44-50 (common hardness range for die casting molds).
