NCF 600 steel Machinability

One characteristic of high nickel alloys is that their machinability is not as good as that of austenitic stainless steel.

Cutting can be done with high speed steel tools, but if possible, carbide tools should be used, feed speeds should be slowed down, and the depth of cut should be deeper.

For lathe machining, the standard feed speed is 1050 to 1350 mm/min for high speed steel tools and 3000 to 5250 mm/min for carbide tools.

When welding or post-cutting heat treatment, the lubricating oil must be thoroughly removed.

Machinability

NCF 600 steel is relatively easy to hot process.

The heating temperature is 1150-1180℃, the hot working temperature is 1180-1000℃, and light processing can reach about 850℃, but please avoid temperatures in the range of 650-850℃, otherwise cracks may occur.

Also in this case, it is necessary to choose a fuel with as little sulfur content as possible.
