40CrNiMoA alloy steel has high strength, high toughness and good hardenability.

When hardened to semi-martensite hardness (HRC45), the critical hardening diameter of water quenching is medium 2100mm, and the critical hardening diameter of oil quenching is medium ≥75mm; when hardened to 90% martensite, the critical hardening diameter of water quenching is medium 80~90mm, and the critical hardening diameter of oil quenching is Ф55~66mm.

This steel also has stability against overheating, but it has high self-pointing sensitivity and temper brittleness.

The weldability of the steel is very poor.

It needs to be preheated at high temperature before welding and stress relief treatment should be carried out after welding.

Application of 40CrNiMoA alloy steel:

It is used for quenched and tempered parts that require high strength, high toughness, large cross-sectional dimensions and more important, such as the transmission eccentric shaft of the horizontal forging machine, the crankshaft of the forging press, etc.

It is used after quenching and tempering to make important parts that require good plasticity, high strength and large size.

If the heavy machinery has high-load shafts, turbine shafts with a diameter greater than 250mm, blades, high-load transmission parts, fasteners, crankshafts, gears, etc.
