Recently, Nantong Xingchen Synthetic Materials Co., Ltd. (NTXC), the important engineering plastics production and R&D site owned by China National Bluestar Group, more than 30 years experiences in PBT compounding industry, has introduced a new compounding PBT product (Starester®203G30) for unattended electrical appliances.

The glow-wire ignition temperature (GWIT) of Starester®203G30 is up to 775℃ and the vertical combustion test pass V-0 criterion with the minimum thickness 0.38mm, certificated by UL, VDE and other international standards.

Starester®203G30 has been successfully used in relay, capacitor, electric switch, micro switch, air conditional terminal and other parts for a large of number benchmarking customers.

Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), a semi-crystalline polymer and the five largest engineering plastics, is widely used in electrical and electronic appliances due to its outstanding characteristics of high mechanical strength, thermal resistance, dimensional stability, electrical insulation performance and chemical resistance.

For a long time, there is a contradiction to obtain both two characteristics of high GWIT and thin-walled flammability for compounding PBT products.

Thin-walled flammability would reduce the characteristic of GWIT and vice versa.

During the improved security level of white appliances, how to develop a compounding PBT product both with two characteristics of thin-walled flammability (V-0, less than 0.4mm) and high GWIT (more than 775℃) becomes the ubiquitous issue concerned by PBT industry.
