Synthetic Rubber Adhesive

Polygrip PLUS 909 is a brownish yellow, fast curing synthetic rubber base adhesive.

This adhesive is versatile and suitable for most of the substrates including rubber, leather, wood, rexin, canvas, and foams.

This adhesive is also suitable for adhering similar and dissimilar substrates to achieve strong bonds.

Long open time and high coverage can be achieved if used at appropriate environmental and processing conditions.

Chemical Composition

Synthetic polymeric resins, synthetic rubber, and suitable organic solvents

Applications

Shoe manufacturing, Leather articles, Carpet laying, Furniture, Automotive interiors, Insulation, Mattresses

Density by hydrometer : - 0.83 - 0.89 g/ml

Brook field viscosity 30 Deg ºC : - Test method ASTM D 2196 - Value 1800 - 2600 cPs

Surface preparation

Bonding surface must be completely clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and foreign particles.

Application method

a.

Apply adhesive on both the substrates with the help of brush or appropriate machine.

b.

Apply second coat (if required) after 5-10 minutes of first coat.

c.

Allow to evaporate the solvent for 5-10 minutes before bonding.

Optimum bond strength can be

achieved if open time is not more than 30 minutes.

Open time is subjective and depends on

environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and foreign particles in air.

d.

Immediately after bonding the substrates, apply adequate pressure on the component to achieve

strong adhesion.

e.

In order to achieve optimum strength, allow components to store for at least 24 hours at ambient

conditions.

Precautions

a.

Polygrip PLUS 909 contain highly volatile and flammable solvents, therefore, appropriate care

must be taken for ventilation during application.

b.

Product must not be exposed to naked flame and very hot objects.

c.

Polygrip product must be kept in closed original containers to avoid physical and chemical

changes which may happen during exposure to environment.

Storage and Handling

Polygrip PLUS 909 has a shelf life of at least one year if stored in its original container at room

temperature.

Since the product is highly flammable, the storage area and shop floor should be

restricted from naked flame.

Keep the adhesive container lid tightly closed when not in use to avoid

unnecessary solvent evaporation from the adhesive.

Proper ventilation must be provided on the

shop floor.
